Oct 15, 2010 Rating wmpnetwk.exe by: Anonymous From what I've read it seems to have something to do with setting the service to index the system root, which results in the process attempting to index the paging file. By setting the indexed directories to at least one level above root (e.g not c:\ but c:\documents and settings) this seemed to resolve the issue. *********** From Support: I haven't had time to research this at this time but it does sound reasonable, the indexing service that adds a lot of over head to the file system may use that much memory.

Oct 16, 2010 Rating Windows Media Player Network Share by: Support Hello Richard, The program wmpnetwk.exe is for sharing media with others either on your local network or the internet. It is called Windows Media Player Network Sharing Program. You can disable this service with out ill effects to your computer, you just will not beable to share music or videos automatically. Because I feel that any file sharing is a hazard to the health of my computer and data I turn off all services that share data. If I want to share a file with someone I either put it on a Server/Domain Network share (where I know only certian users have access to the data/file) or give it to them personally.
