Windows XP Start up is slow.

Using windows XP the start up is very very slow and always finishes with the MYDOCS file, whereas I then delete.

Hello Tony,

Your computer has two problems from your description:

A) It is infected with a virus.

You need to insure your anti-virus software is up to date then run it in the safe mode. (see page 14 of the Self Computer Repair Unleashed! Manual for instructions on cleaning out a virus).

B) One of the main reasons a computer (regardless of the Operating System) starts slow is that it has too much to do when the OS loads and starts.

To fix this you need to optimize your OS for maximum performance. (see page 357 of Self Computer Repair Unleashed! Manual the for optimization techniques).
