Vista Disk Copy

Using Ghost32, I have been unsuccessful in copying Vista from one disk to another where the copy is bootable (usually winload.exe error). I use the disk to disk copy. The copy is not accessable to copy the file from another source to fix it. I have had 2 drives start to fail and have not be able to make a backup drive to replace the failing one.

Hello Ron,

To use Ghost or Ghost32 to copy or clone a hard drive you will need to insure that the replacement hard drive has the same specifications.

That is the replacement hard drive should be the same size, same amount of Heads and Cylinders.

The only way to insure this happens is to replace the hard drive with the same make, model, and capacity.

Starting on page 159 of my Self Computer Repair Unleashed! Manual the best way to make a backup image of your boot drives is with the "Partition" option not the drive copy/clone option.

Try making the image as a partition.
