vinyl to digital

First the Kudo. I found this site on Friday night 4/10/09. I submitted a problem. This morning I found in my e mail that my problem was accepted. There already was a solution from Support. I followed the suggestion and my low sound problem is now solved. Total cost. Only ten bucks. Can't beat that with a stick. Now for my hardware problem. I was transferring vinyl to digital and I blew out my amplifier in my sound card. Does anyone know what hardware and software I need to safely transfer my vinyl records to my PC? It might sound like I know what I am doing but I do not. I just followed instructions from people just like you who helped me out. Thank you in advance and for the past. Tony from Paramus
