Low level work on a motherboard
by: Support

Hello Iqram,

When working on electronics equipmemt such as comptuer parts at a low level such as the removal of ic's or repairing traces you should use a low wattage and small tip soldering iron.

The soldering iron should not exced 25 watts and the tip should only be as wide as one of the legs of an ic, about 1/16th of an inch (sorry don't know the mm size).

The 25 watt will produce just over 400* F tempature. This heat will spread quicky so you need to have the surrounding area protected with heat sinks to keep from damaging other components.

It is nice to help someone willing to do low level repair, since my eye sight is not as good as it used to be this type of work is no longer possible for me.

Hope this helps.
