run-time error

I keep getting an error on my laptop that says run-time error. Any suggestions would help.

Software or Memory error

Hello Diane,

Normally a run-time error is from software, if a program is corrupt or the data is corrupt then you will get the error.

How ever once in a great while a memory chip will fail and the computer will not detect it when it is powered up and this could be the cause also.

Try this -

Reinstall the software that is generating the run-time error.

If that fixed the problem you are done, if not then you will need to run a memory test on your computer memory.

You can find some free diagnostics on the web that will test the memory. If it is a memory IC then you will have to replace the module that the IC is on.
