Programs on my computer are stop with an error message

Hi!
I am having a serious problem. All of my programs are stopping to work. I keep getting messages that this so and so has a problem and have stopped working. This is going through all of my computer programs. Even places that are operating my computer. Even my virus software got the message it encountered a problem and have stopped working. Little by little everything is going in stop mode. Can you help with this and what is causing all my computer to it's components and programs to stop working?
I have Windows Vista and this computer is only two years old. The last message stopped my e-fax from working.
