Printer driver will not install

I am trying to install a canon pixma ip1800 deskjet printer in my computer which has windows xp sp3. The driver and all the programs install ok from the disc. When I click on my printer I get message no driver installed for this device. I deleted all programs and driver and re-booted the computer. I then re-installed everything from the disc. Same promblem. Why is it After i dowmloaded everything from the disc,I get message showing insallation has be installed, but when I try to start the printer I get no driver for this device?

Hello Richard,

After you install the printer drivers check the printer in the Printers Folder from the control panel.

Check the port the printer was installed to, if that isn't the port the printer is connected to then change the port.

If it is a USB printer and is it installing to the parallel or seral port then you could change it to the USB port.

If it is a USB printer and is on a usb port then either the cable, the port, or the printer is having a hardware problem, you can try a different port and /or cable.

Other than that I can't think of any thing that would cause your problem at this time.
