Cold solder point
by: Support

Hello Ricky,

Normally a cold computer will operate better than a hot one, the electronic components have less resistance when cold.

This leads me to believe that somewhere on the motherboard or the hard drive there is a solder joint that seperates when the computer is cold.

Because you say it take almost a half hour of reboots to get the computer fully functional I would almost rule out the hard drive.

Do you have a hair drier?

Remove the cover of the computer and start at a point furtherest from the power supply, heat up the motherboard for a minute, then power up the computer.

Did it start?

If it did then inspect that area for a broken lead or a crack in the motherboard. (You may have to use a magnifing lens to see a very small crack).

If it didn't start then let the area you were heating up cool down, move to another area and repeat the above process until you find the area where the computer wills start with in a minute.

The reason I am ruling out the hard drive is the hard drive will heat up in about three minutes, so after the first restart the hard drive is running at optimum tempature.

If you don't want to go through the process of testing then I would suggest you replace the motherboard.

Hope this helps...
