PC don't boot up

by laitc
(Hong Kong)

I recently replace a new Motherboard with other old parts still in use. All the parts are compatable to the new MB as I have check them before. After all, I turn on the power.

The power button light is on, the CPU fan turned on, the DVD ROM mechanical part is OK as the tray comes out when I push the eject button. But no signal is detected in the monitor. There is no green light seen in the keyboard when I key the numer lock, always no light seen in the optical mouse, there is no sound also.

All the connections are checked in order. I don't know which part is out of order.

Thank for your assistance.

Motherboard hangs on startup
by: Support

Hello Laitc,

The system is getting power so the Power Supply Unit (PSU) is good but what is the out put of the PSU in watts.

Newer motherboards need a minimum of 500 watts.

There are a couple of things you can try -

Disconnect all the peripials from the PSU, look at the motherboard there is usually a led on the motherboard to indicate it is getting power. Some motherboards the led color will indicate the state of that power, red to low, yellow minimum, and green good power.

With only the motherboard getting power does the motherboard start?

Do you get any beeps out of the system speaker?

If it still doesn't start and you do not get any beeps from the speaker then check the manufacutres specifications for the PSU Wattage.

Only one other factor will keep the motherboard from starting if all the connections are good and that is the memory. The wrong or mismatched memory modules will keep the motherboard from starting.

Hope this helps...

Motherboard gives out three beeps, no start
by: Support

Hello JN,

When the motherboard beeps through the computer speaker and will not start that means that there is a problem with the motherboard.

Each BIOS publisher has different beep codes.

You will have to either go the the motherboard manufacture's web site or the BIOS publisher's web site and search for the beep codes.

Such as Phoeix BIOS three long beeps means memory failure, three short beeps means processor failure.

Hope this helps...
