Motherboard will not start

Hello Royce,

When the system is powered up do you get any beeps?

Normally when a system powers up you will get one short beep, this single short beep means the BIOS is going through it's Power On Self Test (POST).

When you power up the system pay attention to the keyboard, the three lights for caps, scroll, and numlock should flash. Once the system has been on for a short time if you press one of the three keys the light should come on. Is this true? If it is then your system is going throught the post.

Try this -

Disconnect the power cable, take the BIOS battery out. Leave the battery out for say five minutes. Then reconnect the power cable (don't put the battery back in yet) and power up the computer, do you see anything on the display? If so go in to the BIOS and go through all the settings. You don't need to change anything just open each section of the BIOS setup. Save your settings and let the system restart.

Do you still have a display after restart? If you do then the problem has been resloved. Power down the system and insert the battery for the BIOS, restart and go back in the BIOS and go through the pages, save settings. Restart, display ok?

Done...

If the above steps did not work and if the system is not emitting more than one short beep but the video doesn't display this would indicate to me that something is going to ground.

Reseat all your cards, cables, memory.

Did the display come up?

No - Your motherboard or processor may have failed.

Hope this helps...
