Hi There,

I can not connect to the internet so i read your book and i did the steps to trouble shoot it. I get a green light on my nic card but no yellow so i take that my NIC is bad right? My question is i am running vista on it and was wondering if i can use a NIC card that says operating system xp on it or do i have to use one that says vista operating system?

Hello Ernest,

Before replacing the NIC card have you done the following:

Replaced the Cat5e cable
Checked the Duplex/Speed settings to match the rest of your network? (Should be 100/Full if connecting to a cable/dsl modem or router)

If you have another NIC check the manufactures web site for updated drivers for the card, it may say XP only but the manufacutre may have compatable drivers for the card.
