Mouse stuck at log on with Vista OS

by Raj
(Wellington, FL, USA)

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop 2 3 months old only. The mouse is not moving either in Normal mode or safe mode. I restored the system to some old day before this problem started on my laptop and still not working. Do you know how to fix my problem? Any hint or assistance will be highly appreciated. Thank you

Mouse problem
by: Sipport

Hello Raj,

You did not specify if the mouse was the built in pointer or an external device.

If it is the built in I would suspect that the driver did not load when you reloaded Vista.

When you power up the computer go in to the BIOS and see if the internal pointing device is activated, if it is then try an external mouse, your laptop most likely doesn't have the old PS/2 style mouse port so you will need a usb mouse.

Once you get your external mouse to work then run the Automatic Updates, you may luck out and get the correct driver from Microsoft, if not you will need to go to the manufactures web site and get the latest driver.

If after all this the internal pointer does not work I would suggest you contact the manufactures Support, you motherboard may have failed as far as the internal pointer is concerned. This is not a hard problem to fix, normally just a keyboard/pointer change takes about fifteen minutes.

Hope this helps...
