The mouse pointer will not move sideways. It works vertically in the center only.

Cleaning the mouse
by: Support

Hello Franklin,

Question:

Is your mouse a mechanical mouse or a digital mouse?

If it is digital then you need to check the cable/reciver (if wireless) and the battery. If you have changed the battery then the next step would to be reinsall the drivers for the mouse/reciever. If it still will not move horozontally then the mouse has failed.

If the mouse is mechanical then you need to clean it. This is normal because gunk builds up on the little bars the ball moves to move the potentometer that causes the mouse pointer to move on the screen.

To clean the little bars remove the mouse track ball (on the underside of the mouse) and use a small screw driver or small bladed knife, be careful to not gouge the bar is it plastic. Clean off all the gunk and then either vacumm or with a can of air clean out anything that may have fell inside the cavity.

If it still will not track horozontally then the potentometer has failed and you need a new mouse.

Hope this helps...
