Mother board problem

I have problem with motherboard during starting.
It 1s not detecting harddisk as well as dvd rom.
Even I changed bus also my question is how to resolve this problem?
Is this bus problem or mother board id slot problem(my system configuration:
harddisk 80 gb
RAM 256mb
P4 system
