Monitor won't function

My monitor won't display anything. Its just black. However,
the small light is blinking. Last time I had this problem,
my technician said he reset the computer BIOS. Can I do this
myself ? How can I reset the monitor using BIOS settings?

Hi Susannah,

When the power on light on the Monitor blinks normaly means that the monitor is not reciving a signal from the computer.

Try this:

Check the cable from the monitor to the computer, is it connected and tight?

When you power up the computer do you see the power on light?

Do you see any lights flickering on and off for the hard drive, cd, or floppy?

If the cable is connected and tight and you are getting light activity on the computer then I would say the Video card or if it is embedded device has failed.

Restting the BIOS and then the monitor displays means that the motherboard is having problmes and may be failing especially the video.

To reset the monitor (which I don't think you need to do) you will have to check with the manufacture.
