Laptop keyboard keys jump on page

by Jonette
(West Palm, Florida)

Hi
THe cursor will jump around the document mostly after the "y" key is used. If typing very slow and stoping after a "y" it is ok. Then the cursor will jump at random times. Just spent over $300 trying to get the battery back up working properly. Need the keyboard to work properly. ANy suggestions would be helpful and appreciated.

Keyboard errors
by: Support

Hello Jonette,

From your discription of your problem, pressing the 'y' key causes the cursor to move would indicate to me that either the key, keyboard, or the ribbon cable to the keyboard is/has failed.

You say it cost you a lot to have the battery fixed?

Do you know if the power supply was what was changed?

If so then either the tech that did the work did not reconnect the ribbon calbe for the keyboard properly or the ribbon cable is torn and making a bad connection.

I suggest you get your reciept out and check for waranty on the work done, then contat the manager of the shop where the laptop was repaired and see it they will remedy your problem, they caused it in my opinion.

If they will not do the repair/replacement for free then I would suggest you either find a differnt shop to replace the defective part or do it your self.

If you do decide to do it yourself the Laptop section of this web site has a couple of articles on how to change out your keyboard.

Hope this helps...
