Dead component removal and replacement.
by: Support

Hello Iqram,

It is possible to desolder (remove) the old part and solder a new part in it's place. The last post I answered has a page that gives you some tips on doing this.

It is beyond the scope of this web site to teach you how to desolder and solder IC's.

IC's are sensitive to tempature, when you desolder the old IC you don't care about destroying it because it is dead. You do how ever care about the motherboard and the surronding IC's and traces so you have to limit the amount of heat applied to other components.

When you go to put the new IC on the motherboard be sure to have something to absorb the excess heat when you solder, anything that will keep the heat from building up inside the IC will work.

Good luck with your repair.
