Intel motherboard Essential series D9..... 4 years and Intel dual core processor

Few days ago I started my pc and it started restarting again and again, I thought that it might be a voltage problem so I closed it down then I turned on my pc once again after 8 hrs.

It was beeping 3 times and monitor didn't start and the power light in cpu(green)was also not working but my CPU was working I mean its processor fan and the CPU fan was also working.

Next day I took my CPU to a computer shop they checked it and told me that motherboard is having problem and your other things are perfect so you will have to purchase a new motherboard now we are not getting that what is the problem they say its VGA chip is gone now what to do ....????

Video chip set bad
by: Support

Hello Gaurav,

When a computer has a problem the BIOS will make the speaker beep, this is called a beep code.

The BIOS publisher and the motherboard manufacture have the beep codes on their web site, check their web sites to decode the beeps.

If it truly is the VGA - embedded Video chip set that has gone bad you could put an add on Video card in a slot and possibly bring the computer back up and use it.

Normally when an embedded device chip set fails the motherboard is not effected right away, the repair shop was correct in that you need to replace the motherboard but you could get by with an add on card to do that fuction for a while.

Failded chip sets have a cascade effect, that is eventually the cause of the chip set to fail will cause other parts of the motherboard to fail.

If you decide to change out the motherboard be preparied to install the Operatind System (OS) again because a different motherboard will cause the current OS to blue screen, the drivers installed and the HAL will be different as I point out on page 78 in the Self Computer Repair Unleashed! Manual, and if you decide to upgrade don't forget to backup your data!

Hope this helps ...
