Installing windows xp on a acer aspire 1692wlmi

by Kamran
(London, England)

I am trying to install reinstall windows xp on a used computer I bought at the weekend.

It is asking me to put in the cd for windows xp sp3.

I do not have the discs that came with the computer when it was new but I do have a windows xp sp2 how can I install the xp sp2 so that I can install the sp3 from microsoft when it is set up.

When I try the cd I have it is telling me that there is a fatal error because the information that is needed is not there.

How can I reconfigure the computer to accept the sp2

This may solve your problem

I am one of the contributors to Q&A on this site.

If the install disk you have is damaged then it sounds as a copy which someone made.

The only way to correct this is with a new install disk or with a repair console disk that is downloaded from Microsoft. You will have to search the website for the download and burn an ISO disk.

The 2nd option is to get a copy of XPSP3 install disk.

This is a good source for the disk:

pcdeal4u.com

You will need a credit card; they will email you the Key Code and a website to download the ISO disk the will also provide a site to download an ISO burner. To which you can make the install disk.

This is also the cheapest source for a Windows Install disk you may want to up grade to W-7 from this site.

Good luck.
