Installing Full Eddition of Windows-7 On New Hard Drive In Hp Pavilion Dv2500 Notebook!
by Kermit

Monte, 9 days ago I Optomised a Hp Pavilion note book following your instruction in your books to a T. Had to install all service packs for Vista Home Perm. As well as all security up dates and up dates for Java, Adobe Reader 9.
There were 3 up dates that didn't install and Vista like XP keeps trying to install the up dates, every time you shut down the computer.I have noted that the computers will try to install the up dates 3 times and shut down after the 3rd attempt.
I made sure the laptop shut down before taking a 8 day job. When I returned the computer was in a different place. When I retevied it and turned it on after pluging in the power cord this message appeared: Fatial error cannot boot from hibernation press ENTER to contiue; I sat there and watched as a timer counted down seconds and the windows world thing appeared and a message: windows is installing phase 3 of 3 updates do not turn off or unplug your computer. Nothing else no install and would restart, then show the same over and over and over. Untill I did a forced shut down. Took a while but was able to get it to boot to safe mode but wound not self repair the system. Said to reinstall the operating system from restore.
As there were document etc. I wanted to save before doing so; I used my boot recovery disk to copy as many of the files to a different partiton of the hard drive. During this time the hard drive got so hot that it was burning my hand when I touched the case. Even took 3 attemps to get the boot disk to boot to recover the data. (I cannot belive that Hp would build a laptop that the vents below the hard drive sit on the flat surface preventing the venting of the heat; but they did!! (fan works.)
On the restart after removing the disk from the dvd drive it said:UNABLE to boot the due to loss or corruption of the system and could not get into safe mode to use the factory reinstall disk on the hard drive.
To make a long story short I have decided to install a new hard drive, additional memory and a fresh install of windows 7 home prem.
Past experance in install XP requried installing addition drivers from the mother board disk for the network CARD, video, and intel chip sets. I do not have the drivers disk and Hp web site is of little help. Your suggestions please.
Many thanks,
Kermit.
