Formatting hard drive and reinstalling Operating System
by: Support

Hello James,

It is very easly done, just put the Install CD in the cd rom drive and restart the computer.

Before you do check the cd sleeve and see if the product key is there, if not turn the laptop over and see if the Microsoft lable is there and copy the product code from it, you will need it when you install the Operating System.

After pressing F8 when you are installing the OS you will come to a screen where the install program will list the drive and the partitions on the drive, select the one with the Windows XP on it and then select delete, follow the prompts.

This is a destructive process so any data you have on the partition will be deleted.

I would suggest that you backup any data that you want to keep to an external device such as a external hard drive or a network drive.

Good luck, check my How to section for more help.
