Laptop battery latch will not release
by: Support

Hello Ed,

It sounds like the latch isn't releasing all the way when you unlock the battery.

You can try this:

Release the latch and press in on the battery at the same time, the mechanism may not be clearing the tab that locks the battery in place when the latch button is moved.

Some times the battery is just a few micro millimeters larger than the slot it fits in and that could cause the battery case and the laptop slot to bind.

My new battery for my IBM T-30 is that way and when the latch is released the battery will not slide out, I have to use a small screw driver to lift the battery a little bit to get it to come out of the battery bay.

If you decide to use a screw driver to move the battery do not use a lot of force because if the latch isn't clearing the locking tab you will break either the latch mechanism or the battery locking tab.

Hope this helps...
