How do I remove files backed up on my D drive?

by Tammy
(San Jose, CA)

I was performing a back up (my first time!) and I mistakenly backed up my files to my D drive, and now I keep getting an error message that my D drive is full and I need to clean it up. I have since backed up everything onto removable disks, so now I just want to delete what I have put on my D drive. But I am afraid that by doing so, I will blow up my computer. How can I delete all or most files on the D drive so I will stop getting the error message? (I have completed emptied out the recycle bin and that doesn't do much for giving me more free space on my D drive).

Thanks.

Tammy

Deleting Backup Files
by: Support

Hello Tammy,

The reason you can not delete the files from your D: drive is because you do not have the rights to the files.

So you have some options:

1st) You could take owership of the files, to do this you have to have Administrative rights to the computer, or log on as the Administrator.

2nd) With the backup program see if there is an option to delete the files, I haven't tried this so don't know if there is an option to delete files.

3rd) This is the most extream option, copy the files that you need off of the drive and then format it.

Hope this helps...
