Hello Ernie,

Well the hardest part of any new career is getting hired.

Although I think my manuals are great they are not a substute for a formal education. My manuals are good statting point and great for the DIY'er.

A formal school will teach you more than I can in one or five manuals, I went to college for a long time (Part time when I was on Active duty in the USAF) but all told it was almost three years for my AAS.

If you can find a job as part time or entry level while going to school it would help you a lot.

As for where the industry is going? At this time that is an unknown.

Check your local news paper and job web sites for positions and the required skills.

Three years ago I was very active in seeking a new position but with my expeance and age there wasn't any openings. That is I was either too experancd (meaning they would have to pay me more) or to old (meaning I couldn't do the physical work [rubbish!]) so I decided to open up this web site and go in to semi-retirement.

It has worked out pretty good except the fact that the Misses doesn't like me hanging around the house all day except when she needs someting done. :)

Good luck with your chosen path which ever one you take!
