Floppy disk drive repair/ A Drive

I have a floppy disk drive that isn't working properly.
I put my disk in and it say it needs to be formatted, not just 1 disk but every disk I have. I try to format the disk and a message come up that says windows can format the disk, I tried a bank disk and it says it can read the disk. How do I fix the a drive in my computer to get the info I have on them. the disk works in other computers so it's not the disk. Please help

Floppy Drive Failure

Hello Chuck,

If the floppy drive will not read or write to the floppy and the floppy has data on it that will read/write in another computer then I think the floppy drive has failed.

The fall back option of the Operating System Explorer is that if it can not read a floppy disk when inserted in the floppy drive is to say it needs to be formated. Even if the floppy contains data.

Floppy Drives are repairable but you need two programs and some experance to do the repair.

I would suggest you repalce the drive, they are really cheap even a USB drive.

One thing I would suggest you do is not use it anymore, the componetne that has failed in the drive may cause another component in the drive to fail and it may begain to erase your floppy disks then you will have a bigger problem of how to recover the data from the disks...
