OKAY here are my question's

1. can i disable C:/ drive after i enable E:/ drive ( where i will install the new windows XP program ) to be sure and not damage any thing on the C:/ drive , and re enable it after i load E:/ .

2. I will then boot from the CD ROM but must change that in the BOIS ?. ( correct )

3. I got in to the BOIS but i am not sure how to set it to boot from the CD ROM ?.

4. do i leave both drives on AUTO or do i have to change them ? as i do not want them both to boot at the same time ?. MJ

Dual Boot XP Operating System
by: Support

Hello Melvina,

1) To boot your system from the CD you need to go in to the BIOS and find the Boot section, set your CD to the first boot device.

2) When you are in the BIOS don't change the Drive settings from Auto unless you are directed by the drive manufacture, if you set a pramater wrong you could ruin your dive.

3) You do not want to disable any drives to create your Dual Boot System.

This page explains how to go about creating a Dual Boot Windows System:

two hard drives
by: Jackie

I have two separate hard drives. One will not boot any longer. Also missing or corrupt hall.dll

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(0)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Jackie & Brian" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Jackie's Business" /fastdetect

The drive that says Jackie's Business will not open

Please advise

Hard Drive problem
by: Support

Hello Jackie,

Here is your clue - 'Also missing or corrupt hall.dll'

It isn't your dual boot menu, the hard drive is having a problem.

You can try -

Copy the hall.dll from the c:\windows\system32 directory from one drive to the other drive if - Both drives have the same operating system.

If one is XP and the other is Vista then the one with the missing dll will have to have the Operating System re-installed to correct the error.

Because you have a Dual Boot system you can use the good operating system to back up the data on the drive with the problems.

Hope this helps...
