You
have built your web site, now you need to submit it to some directories.
Backlinks are important, they are in the eyes of the Search Engines a vote for your
web site, one back link one vote, the more votes the higher popularity of your
site, thus causing your Page Ranking (PR) to increase.
These are all Free directories. I have used the following links to submit this site.
They all would like a link back to your site but do not require it.
Each link will open in a new window, this will allow you to keep in contact with this listing.
Note: After going through about fifty of these one thing that you need to do if
taking the reciprocal you have to have the url in place before submitting. A
reciprocal will get your site indexed faster.
You may want to go to Google or Yahoo and create a email account to use for your
submission form. Some sites I have came across in my quest to increase my back
links
will spam you. So far these that I have listed have mild spam, when you
submit some of the sites have a requirement that you be on their email lists for
advertisements.

If you would like to control where your site is listed then you will have to do
the drudgery yourself. You can also try these two programs to submit your site,
they are limited in the number of Directories you can submit your site to but it
is cheaper than paying someone to do it.
I have added a link to the Article submitter that was discussed in the forums
awhile back, I have loaded the program and looked at the process, but I have not
written an article to test the software with. I do know it will not work behind
a firewall, that is a corporate type firewall not the XP or Vista firewall.
