Device Manager reports an unknown problem with both CPU's

by Keith
(Pickering, ON. Canada)

On the Device Manager the following is displayed

Other Devices
! Intel(R) Core (TM) CPU T5500 @ 1.66GHz
! Intel(R) Core (TM) CPU T5500 @ 1.66GHz

I used the program DevManView 1.20 (Windows)and it gave the following information

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5500@ 1.66GHz ACPI\GenuineIntel_-_x86_Family_6_Model_15\_0 0x00000030 0x00000040 No No 02/02/2011 8:25:28 PM 12/01/2011 10:21:18 PM

The computer is a Laptop Sony Vaio VGN C240E/B and the OS is Windows Vista Home Premium.

The computer appears to be functioning correctly other than the exclamation marks indicated against the two (2) CPU's.

Any suggestion on how to remove/resolve the error indicator?

Thanks

ACPI Driver
by: Support

Hello Keith,

It appears that the ACPI driver may be out of date, has a confict with the BIOS, or the reporting is wrong.

My guess would be the reporting is wrong if you are not having any problems with the computer.

You could try:

A) Going to the manufacutres web site and see if there are any updates or if there are any comments about this small issue.

B) Run the Windows Update program, there may be a 'Hot FIx' available that cures the issue.

C) The BIOS settings may be wrong for the ACPI (there are two vesions - 1.1 and 2.0) but most Laptop BIOS settings do not include this setting as a changable item).

Hope this helps ...
