Jan 21, 2009 Rating Laptop Battery or Power Supply? by: Suppport Hi Jake, Some considerations: 1) How old is the battery? 2) Does the bottom of the laptop get hot when the battery is in the laptop? Normally a battery will start to loose the lenght of charge over time, that is the older the battery the shorter the time it holds a charge. If your battery is over two years old and you charge it frequently then it is time for a new battery. If it is a new battery and the bottom of your laptop next to the battery is getting hot then your power supply is about to fail. It should be warm when the computer is running and charging the battery, not hot. Please tell me if either of these are true. See rhis page for more infomation on Laptop Batteries.
