Data Recovery

by Ed
(Miles City, MT USA)

Hi Monte,

My question deals with software, not hardware.

I hope I am not breaking the rules.

I have a need to recover some data. There are two different data recovery programs I have used in the past and I am looking to borrow from your experience.

The two programs I am familiar with are
1) "Get Data Back" from Run-Time Software http://www.runtime.org/

2) "Data Recovery Wizard" from EASEUS http://easeus.com/

Have you used either of those programs?
Do you have any thoughts about them?
Do you have any other suggestions?

Thank you
Ed

Data Recovery programs
by: Support

Hello Ed,

I have used 'Get Data Back' with succes a few times and would say it is pretty good software.

The Data Recovery Wizard I haven't used so have no opinion for it.

Here is a caution for anyone that needs to recover data from a hard drive -

Try to not write to the drive, if you write to the drive the drive table or MFT will get written to making it harder to recover your files. Also don't defragment the drive.

Basicly what will happen is the file or files you want to recover will get over written if there isn't very much open space on the drive. And the name of the file(s) will also be over written.

Hope this helps...
