Computer won't turn on

by Zac
(Central IL)

First thing Christmas morning after the kids opened their presents, my computer wouldn't turn on. I shut it down normally the night before, nothing unusual, but in the morning, nothing.
No fans, only a green light inside on the motherboard.

I suspected it was the power supply since I have heard that emachines, which mine is, are known for weak power supplies.

I have just built a new SBI website, and my first uploading my own html. (using AJ's template :) Anyway, you can imagine I am kind of freaking out!

My html editor with all of my pages is on that computer. I just bought my kids a new computer for Christmas so I'm not completely immobilized, but I've simply got to get mine going, if you know what I mean.

I should have my new power supply today, as I ordered one on ebay for 22 dollars including shipping, which I was pleasantly surprised how affordable it was.

I've read your tips on installing the new power supply, so obviously I am hoping that is all it is.

I'll update this either way after I install. Anything else I should know before I install?

Thanks,
Zac

Dead Power Supply?
by: Support

Hi Zac,

Check the power cord for the computer. When you power it up do you see the floppy dirve and hard drive lights filcker?

It may be that your power supply has failed.

Check inside the computer, press on all the cards in the slots, press all the connectors on the motherboard and the drives.

Other than the motherbaord failing or the power supply that is the only things I can advise about.
