Dell motherboard
by: Support

Hello Darel,

Normally when a computer works then will not power up something has failed.

Do you get any beeps from the computer speaker?

If you get more than one beep then the numbers of beeps is a code for the failed component. You would have to go to Dell's web site to get the code for the beeps.

In my troubleshooting guide I suggest you remove anything that is not required to start the computer.

That is disconnect all the drives, remove any add on cards. Just leave the minimum coponents to start the computer -

Motherboard and processor
Memory
Video card (if not embedded)
Keyboard

If the computer starts then start reconnecting components (with the power off!) one at a time until the computer will not start.

If the computer doesn't start then remove the video card, does the computer beep?

If not remove the memory, does the computer beep?

No for both of the above means the motherboard has failed.

Hope this helps...
