CD/DVD Failure
by: Support

Hello Jean,

If the cd/dvd drive will open and close then the mechanics are working.

If you go to the Device Manager do you see a red circle with a slash over the drive?

If you do then the drive has failed, proabably electronics on the drive and needs to be replaced.

If it doesn't and the window has a 'This device is working properly.' then you may want to reinstall the drivers and see if that makes any differance.

Even after reinstalling the drivers and the drive will still not read a CD/DVD I would say it has failed in such away that the computer or the Operating System can not detect failure.

Hope this helps...
