Blue Screen after a system restore

by Jameen
(new york, ny)

I believe that I have a virus. so I tried to system restore. I used the disk that came with the computer (e-machine 3 years old). It does everything properly until it get most of the way to putting everything back, then it goes to a blue screen. Which says that it shut down to prevent damage (not those exact words, but this is the basic) I don't know what else to do. I also have to turn it on and off until it comes on.

BSOD during restore
by: Support

Hello Jameen,

Normally BSOD during a install or in your case a restore of the Operating System means there is a hardware problem with the computer.

You say it takes a couple of time powering the computer up before it starts?

This would indicate that either the power supply is failing or another part is failing and going to ground, this would be why it takes a couple of times with the power switch to get the computer to start.

When you finally get the computer started then the BSOD there will be a series of numbers after the ERROR: if it comes up then goes away to fast to write the code down then if you have a camera take a picture of the error.

Then with the error code do a search on the e-mahine's manufacture's web site, if this is a normal occurance for an e-machine they will have a fix ro tell you what has failed.

Another way to find out what has failed is to do a search on the web for the error code, other people may have submitted the error to either the manufacture or Microsoft.

Hope this helps...
