Big problem with Windows 7 and Thunderbird email program

by Sue Too
(NY State)

Hi Monte,

My husband just built me a new computer and installed Windows 7.
He also installed Thunderbird email program. Even though Thunderbird is compatible with Windows 7 (32 bit) it doesn't want to work. We can get email, but not send it. He has spent literally hours on his computer trying to find an answer, but so far nothing has worked.

Long story short...what email program(s) do you recommend for Windows 7. We're ready to change to something else as our (mainly his) frustration level is above the full mark!

I have a web site to keep going and I need an email program that works without hassles.

Windows 7 and email problems
by: Support

Hello Sue Too,

I use MS Outlook, how ever my wife uses web mail (Live) and have used Eudora.

I used Eudora for a long time but went over to Outlook because it is easier to archive the old messages.

If you can send but can't receive email I would say that one of the pramaters is not being set. Which is the POP paramater. If your email provider requires a secure connection (POP3) then that port maybe being blocked by the firewall.

What does the email provider's web site say about the POP pramaters?

Hope this helps...

Thanks, but I must not have been clear on the problem
by: Sue Too

Hi Monte,

Thanks for your quick response but I must not have made myself clear. We can receive email, but can't send it. We've changed that parameters every way possible and still nothing. We have always used Eudora, but we have been told that Qualcomm will no longer be supporting it after April (at least I think it's April). We're now looking at a new program called Postbox. It's getting quite confusing after looking at so many programs.
