BartPE and ERD Commander Screen Shots

This is a small tutorial to go along with the software reviews of these two fine programs I have done. The screen shots were taken from a Virtual Computer session with each cd starting the session. Just put your mouse pointer over the small graphic for a popup of a larger image, if you have 'Pop Ups' blocked you may have to enable them for this page to work properly. I learned a couple of things while I was making these graphics, and when you learn something new the day is not a total loss.

Enjoy!

Have you seen this error and wondered how you were going to fix it with out paying a Tech a lot of money?

Or perhaps this one?

Never fear BartPE or ERD are here!

Startup screen for BartPE

You will find more comprehensive information on Emergency Recovery Disks, removing viruses, fixing BSOD's  in the Self Computer Repair Unleashed! Manual.

Desktop, note the Network error message

ERD Startup Screen

Splash Screen

Loading, you can select network setup here

Select the operating system on the C: drive if you want to work on the Registry, other wise select none.

Warning about the registry, ignore if you selected 'None'

Desktop, some of the normal desktop functions are not available

From the start menu, select Explorer

Drilling down to get to an application, in this case Ghost on the D: Drive

Starting Ghost to make an image of the C: partition.

As you can see from the screen shots both BartPE and ERD allow you to start a system that others would consider dead and would advise you to reload the Operating System. Other things you can do with these two 'Emergency' Startup programs are make and image of the existing partitions, replace the current OS with a fresh copy.

Instead of starting your computer and doing the F8 to get to the 'Safe Mode' load up one of these and do what you want from there. No more 'Drive locked due to running processes' when you want to run a check disk. Replace bad drivers that are causing the system to blue screen.

In other words you need to have one of these excellent programs in your IT Tool box.
