Setting up the case

You will find more information on building a custom pc in the Self Computer Repair E-Book.

Once I get all my parts, I need to compare the parts list I made to the parts I have on hand.

1) Case

These items should come with the case:

Power supply and power cord

Template for the ports on the mother board (some cases have numerous templates because different manufactures have different layouts for the ports on the motherboard)

Hardware for mounting or securing the devices in the case.

2) Mother Board

These items will come with the mother board:

IDE drive cable (some have two cables)

SATA drive cable

Floppy drive cable

Installation Guide

3) Hard Drive

4) DVD Drive

5) Floppy Drive

6) Memory

7) Processor

8) Video Card

9) Extra fan(s)

Point # 1!!

ESD - Your components come in a anti-static container. Ensure you are properly grounded BEFORE opening the container!!
