How to build a custom pc

DIY-Computer-Repair can help!

Tired of computer shop Rip-Off Artists? Here's how you can build a custom pc for much less!!

If you don't want to search the internet for information on building your own custom PC you may want to look a the Build a Custom PC manual

This is my project to buy the parts and build a custom pc.

This system is for my wife, she is not a "Computer Guru" by any means, all she knows is "I click on the Icon and it works." And if it doesn't' work I am in deep doo doo. She uses the system for email, Quicken for our finances, downloading all the vacation pictures, viewing pictures sent by various family members, and plays a solitaire game now and then. Her old system does have a Web cam for connecting to our family in the UK, but so far no one there has shown any interest in getting theirs setup.

So I need a system that will run email, quicken, solitaire, the web cam, and down load and view jpegs, mpegs.

I could buy her another system but I would be in the same position I am in now in three or four years, she has a Compaq Deskpro Mini Tower that is four years old, I have upgraded the processor to 1.8ghz, added a 40 gig hard drive and maxed the memory out to 784meg. I don't want to be in the proprietary dead end again so I will build a custom pc.

I have the project broken down in to four chapters:

1) Research and purchase the components

2) Building the custom pc

3) Loading the OS and associated programs.

4) Making it faster..........

Lets get started!!

Chapter 1 - In the beginning

Chapter 2 - The fun part

Chapter 3 - Almost there

Chapter 4 - Performance optimization
