Hello

Well it has been a busy time here, new baby and all of the things that come with the baby. She cries and so does Grand Pa, not because he needs feeding or anything, he needs sleep. I have forgot that a baby sleep in shifts, three hours on two off...

A couple of improvements to my web site. I have started a Q and A type of forum. I don't have the link on a lot of pages as of yet. Stop by and post your question.

A while back I wrote some articles about virtual devices, networking, and so on for the web site. After some thought I decided to elaborate on my articles and wrote an ecourse about Virtual Computing and what you can do with it. You will find it as a new page listed above and the article I wrote to go with it at ezines.com.

I am almost done with my RV project of putting a network in our RV. If you want to know why I am doing a mini-network in my RV you will have to go to my RV site and read the articles, to long of a story for this newsletter. You can read the computer side of the network setup in the article above. (If you were wondering what a RV network was about)

A friend asked me last week why I don't use registry tools. A registry tool is a program that will search your registry and clean up all the dead wood that has been building up since you first bought or loaded your OS on your hard drive. The main reason I don't use one is I usually have to rebuild my OS before all that stuff happens. So I decide maybe I should check some out, well, Ok.

I tried three, two are not worth mentioning or giving you a link to they are super worthless. One would only do a search but not clean anything up Like those pop ups you get from some sites - Your Registry needs to be cleaned! But if you click on the 'try me' all you get is a jumbled report and a virus). The next one would do a search and show you what need to be cleaned up but wouldn't let you copy the key so you could clean your registry yourself. The one I liked, I tested on three of my Virtual Machines I use for testing software and viruses. It did a pretty good job and I was surprised it did such a good job! So if you have been running your computer for some time and need to clean it up I suggest you try Registry Fix! in conjunction with my Cleaning a computer.

Other news:

Microsoft has released their Windows 7 Beta, I downloaded it and loaded up a Virtual Machine. You can go to Microsoft and signup for a free 180 day copy. After playing with it for a while I have came to the conclusion that this is just an updated version of Vista, not much change overall in appearance or functionality. And it is not any faster. I am running a Core 2 Quad at 3 GHz and the OS drags. I think that when you move the mouse the pointer should move at the same time on the screen, not drag... My opinion, yours may differ.

And in case you saw it Google had a major bug on the 31st of Jan, 2009. When you did a search for a web site all the web sites that were listed had a 'Malware Warning' and when you clicked on the link to go to the web site you received a dire warning that the web site contained 'Malware and would do harm to your computer.' Well it was a bug introduced by a programmer the night before and they took care of it pretty quick, sure had some Web Masters worried. And if you missed it well it is gone now...
