Hello

As summer draws to a close not a lot going on, I wrote one new page about an experience I had with a computer that was invaded by a virus. My fault, you have to be ever vigilant with your computer protection. Being pro-active is always better than being reactive!

Do you like checklists? That is repair checklists? Here are two I made up that can be found on the web site. They are fairly small so just click on the link to download them, then save the PDF to your hard drive. You can print them, send them to your friends. (I am making more for the membership site).

Over the last three or so weeks I have been busy building the addition to the  DIY Membership Site. Stop by and sign up for a free week. Once I start accepting members I will stop offering the free week. I have a tentative schedule of 18 September to launch the new section. If you do stop by and look around leave a message on the blog (you have to sign in to leave comments, sorry some trolls have already been by and left some innoxious comments). Some of the things in the membership section in addition to new information will be discounts on my e-books, all of my courses will be downloadable from inside the section. And of course one-on-one support from me for anyone that is a member.

We are getting ready for the release of Windows 7, lots of new programs are being developed by the software community. I have two I am evaluating and will do reviews on them by next month. One thing I have found by querying some hardware manufactures is they are on board and will have updated drivers ready when Windows 7 goes on sale. Microsoft has released a statement that Windows 7 has gone 'gold' this means that the Master Copy of the installation dvd has been made and sent to the DVD manufacture to make the product. This is a very large step for any software publisher, it means they are committed to the schedule they have set to get their product to market.

Do you like free stuff? I am running a poll on my web site here - Poll - get a free ebook when you complete the poll!

Other news:

If anyone is running Windows 7 and would like to change the 'Start' button to the old Classic XP style this article has two programs that will kill the Windows 7 menu and install a XP style menu. I have tested this add on and it works but (read the documentation!) it does have a couple of bugs.
